A Report On The Sino-US Co-production 3D Animated Film Editing Interpreting Project

With the vigorous development of the film industry,domestic film studios have explored the possibility of in-depth cooperation with foreign producers in order to open up the intermational market.Therefore,the demand for interpreting service for film and television production has been expanding.From July to December,2018,the reporter took part in an editing interpreting project of a Sino-US co-production 3D animated film.She served as an interpreter,responsible for the communication of technical issues between foreign directors and Chinese editors.The interpreting service was warmly received and the reporter gained rich interpreting experience.Three kinds of problems encountered her in the project,from the perspectives of linguistic information,psychology and environment affecting the quality of interpreting.The information-related problems mainly include inadequate preparation for editing terminology and knowledge,and delivery failure due to lengthy information.Psychologically,evaluation apprehension as well as the requirement for instant service increased tension.The environmental problems include input difficulty resulting from remote interpretation and a high requirement of the meeting mode for multitasking ability.Based on personal reflections and the insights from the excellent interpreters as well as previous researches,the reporter proposes solutions accordingly.First,the reporter should learn animation editing terminology and knowledge in advance,and lean to properly give play to subjective initiative.Second,the reporter should positively deal with evaluation apprehension,and enhance communicative skills.Third,concerning the environment,she should improve adaptation,strengthen multitasking ability,and properly distribute attention.With an analysis of the first-hand data,the paper will enrich interpreting materials concerning animation and filn industry,and provide references for peer interpreters.
