There are a great collection of individual classifiers in modern Chinese. By using an appropriate individual classifier, we can express the semantic information and subjective feelings more accurately. We have found a series of emerging noun-classifier collocations. In Internet language, the range of classifiers used with nouns referring to people extended beyond the standard options, such as ge 个’, wei’位’, yuan’员’, ming’名’and kou’口’, to other classifiers such as mei ’枚’,zhi’只’,duo’朵’,tuo’坨’, and kuan’款’This thesis contains seven chapters. The first chapter gave an introduction to the new phenomenon. The second chapter summarized the earlier researches in related area. The next four chapters constitute the body part. In the third chapter, we determined the range and types of newly emerged noun-classifier collocations by analyzing self-built corpus. In the fourth chapter, we then carried out a survey to study the degree of acceptability and DC (derogatory and commendatory) direction tendency of the emerging collocations. All data are analyzed using the software SPSS. The fifth chapter compared the non-routine collocations with routine collocations in Mandarin Chinese in the prospective of structure, collocational range, the use of numerals, semantic features and etc. In the sixth chapter, we elucidated the origin of emerging collocations and their motivation explanations. Also, we explained the reason of the uneven collocational range for each individual classifier. At last, the seventh chapter gave a brief conclusion and pointed out the future research direction.
