A Study On Examples Of Road To Success

Sample sentence is an essential part of Chinese teaching for foreigners. It is of great importance for text book designing to explain the samples and demonstrate important point in using and expressing. The basic principle for setting samples are scientific, typical, and practical. Being scientific and normative are premises of a highly qualified sample sentence, while whether it is practical and vivid or not also really matters. Sample sentence makes big difference in language learning, however the related research of sample sentences’ setting principles and qualification in foreign Chinese teaching academia is vulnerable.This paper absorbs the previous published achievement together with advice from foreign Chinese learner. Also we collected sample sentences in Road to Success and investigate whether they are scientific, typical, and practical. Based on that, we offer some suggestions for text book compilation of foreign Chinese teaching in this paper.The paper has four chapters. In chapter one, we introduce the significance of this topic, and conclude the existed achievements based on published essays. Sample sentences in Road to Success are abstracted and divided into several groups, which is showed in chapter two. In chapter three, we analyze these samples from the perspective of principles mentioned above, scientific, typical, and practical. We summarize experiences and lessons of setting samples in Road to Success in chapter four, offering suggestions based on our research in four aspects: difficulty, arrangement, words selection and culture.All in all, sample sentences’ qualification matters a lot in learning, and it is a long way to go in promoting this area. We hope this paper could help in designing and arrangement of sample sentences in foreign Chinese teaching text book to meet the basic principles and users’ need.
