The Impact Of The Gender Role Orientation Of Female Village Officers On Their Leadership Style

Along with the progress of the Times, the female village cadres gradually into the public. The latest research shows that social gender role identity will lead to the different styles of leadership. This study is based on Androgyny theory of gender roles and the theory of leadership style to explore gender roles of female village cadres and discuss the relationship between leadership style and its gender roles, research the influence of social gender of female village cadres roles for leadership styles, which will provide a scientific basis for selecting and training female village officers.Methods: 269 Female village cadres of Hunan Provence were surveyed by BSRI and LBDQ. SPSS19.0 and AMOS17.0 were used to analysis the data collected.Results:(1) For the distribution trend of the sex role style about female village cadres, the double gender type occupied the highest proportion and for the proportion, the neutral followed closely. For the individual, longer work time she has, more androgyny degree she owned. For the female village cadres whose husbands didn’t work in the local place, they had higher feminization degree compared with the female village cadres whose husbands worked in the local place. Longer separation time they have, higher feminization degree they owned. For the individual whose husband is a merchant or a worker, the androgyny degree is higher than the individual whose husband is a jobholder or a peasant. For the individual whose personal contribution degree in the household economy exceeded 70% has distinct lower feminization scores than the individual whose personal contribution degree in the household economy is significantly lower than 30%.(2) For the leader style, 79.2% female village cadres paid attention to the established rules and regulations and the concern to the public. There are only 5.9% female village cadres who only paid attention to the established rules and regulations and didn’t care for their subordinates. Even if among the female village cadres who paid more attention to the established rules and regulations, the people numbers who cared for the public is significantly higher than those who didn’t care for the public. The initiating structure in the leader style of female village cadres was influenced by their education degree. For the individual who only received the elementary education or didn’t receive the elementary education, her score in the aspect of initiating structure is far lower than the individual who received better education background. The leader styles of the female village cadres also influenced by the job categories of their husbands. For the individual whose husband faced more complicated interpersonal relationship and challenge, she had higher requirement for the established rules and regulations and has more care for her subordinates.(3) The gender role of the female village cadres has the influence to their leader styles. For androgyny individual, she has higher requirement for the established rules and regulations and has more care for her subordinates than the individual of Androgyny, feminization and undifferentiation. For the individual whose gender role type belongs to Androgyny and androgyny, the score about the initiating structure in her leader style has significant difference than the types of feminization and undifferentiation. For the individual whose gender role type belongs to feminization, the score about care dimension in the leader style has significant difference than the undifferentiation type, but has not significant differences than the Androgyny type.(4) The gender role of the female village cadres was constituted by seven factors, including four factors with Androgyny peculiarity and three factors with feminization peculiarity. The three factors, aggressiveness, leadership and stability in Androgyny peculiarity made forward prediction for the initiating structure in the leader style; the factors, aggressiveness, leadership and braveness in Androgyny peculiarity and the sympathy factor in feminization peculiarity made forward prediction for the concerned dimension in the leader style.
