The domestic conflict of Syria have continued since the beginning of 2011, which attracted much international attention. This paper focuses on the reform of Bashar al-Assad to look into the crux of Syria. Although Hafiz al-Assad made Syria a powerful political in Middle East with the wise political decisions and excellent diplomacy during his 30 years ruling. However, it was inevitable for successors to be faced with the problem of democratic politics and economic construction. Under the circumstances, the new ruler Bashar continued his father’s policies about domestic and foreign affairs on one hand, on the other hand he had to do a series of social and economic reform. But Mr Bashar’s reform failed to overcome the inherent drawbacks of the political and economic of Syria, and this led to the occurrence of Syrian crisis, which caused the turbulence of the domestic situation. This research looks into the background, process and specific content of the reform of Bashar in the first place, then analyses the result and effect of the reform. This paper believes that the unfortunatelot unfavorable of Bashar’s domestic reform and the failure of foreign policies caused the Syrian Crisis. And the complicated domestic political and economic system of Syria and the imbalance between the domestic and foreign policy led to the failure of the reform.
