Xueneng was a very unique poet in the late Tang Dynasty, The New、Old History of the Tang Dyansty didn’t have special biography of Xueneng, County vegetarian Reading Records、Chronicle of Tang Poetry、Tang Chuan took notes about Xueneng’s life experience and Official career,The records were scattered. Complete Poetry of the Tang preserved about three hundreds poetry of Xueneng, divided into four volume. As a relatively famous poet in the late Tang Dynasty, his poetry spreaded very wide,especially his jueju and lushi which had got high achievement, had a positive impact on the society. but because of the limit of histrioc materials,the academic circles have only a little attention about Xueneng.This paper based on Xueneng’s existing poetry,according to the history material,intend to give a comprehensive study about Xueneng’s lifetime,the official calendar,family,poetry creation and character. This paper is divided into four chapters in total.The first chapter give a detailed exploration about Xueneng’s lifetime and the official calendar, mean to have a clear acquaintance about Xueneng’s life experience. The first paragraph research on Xueneng’s birth year. This paper is obedient to Wenyiduo’s opinion. The second paragraph research on Xueneng’s official calendar,on the basis of County vegetarian Reading Records、Chronicle of Tang Poetry、Tang Chuan, give a clear date notes when Xueneng took office and his official position. At last make a table,strive to display Xueneng’s official experience clearly.The second chapter discriminate Xueneng’s origin native place,research on his clan and extraction. Query the recordation that Xueneng was borth in Fenzhou, and according to the materials prove Xueneng’s origin native should be Hedong Fenyin. On this basis,continue to check the relationship about Xueneng and the famous clan Hedong fenyin XueJia, Infer Xueneng maybe come from Fenyin XueJia. Fenyin XueJia had many famous people in history, this paper list some people that had high reputation but very arrogant,for example, Xuefeng, Xuezhaowei, and so on. Compared with Xueneng, obtain a conclusion that arrogancy was a endemic phenomenon of XueJia. Combined with the history of Fenyin XueJia, it was known that the large gap between family’s glorious past and the fading reality,plus the late Tang Dynasty,this have a important but negative influence on Xueneng.The third chapter explore Xueneng’s Grades of Poetry and moral quality. The first paragraph analyse Xueneng’s poems,divided his poems into three parts:Lyric Poetry,Farewell Poems,Responding Poems.his Lyric Poetry was very wide, Farewell Poems were sincere, Responding Poems almose were given singers and dancers,represent Xueneng’s sympathy and admire to them. The second paragraph appreciate Xueneng’s poetry creation. This part drift away the Confucian’s traditional feelings of holding the world in heart,discuss Xueneng’s common character as an ordinary person. The third paragraph appreciate Xueneng’s moral quality. Xueneng hated constraints,like freedom,he supervised government affairs was very strictly, he was honest and upright,this was very difficult in late Tang Dynasty,but Xueneng dared to do it. His poems was full of the spirit of innovation. He had a forthright and sincere temper, broad mind and bright character. But he also was a arrogant poet. Eliminate his arrogancy, Xueneng was a person that valuing emotion and friendship.The fourth chapter,explain the reason of Xueneng’s arrogant character.The chapter is mainly from four points to analyse the reason,the first is the influence of family,the second is for recommend, the third is the social background of late Tang Dynasty, the last is about Xueneng himself’s psychology and consciousness.
