Research On The Late Tang Dynasty Poet Xueneng

Xueneng is a relatively famous poet in the late Tang Dynasty. As the late Tang"late savant", Xueneng is devoted to poems and gains some achievements. His poems amount to two hundred and sixty pieces up to now, especially his jueju and lushi which are quite beautiful and include some nice sentences. From the whole Tang Dynasty to the early Song Dynasty, Xueneng's poems have a positive impact on the society. However, because of the sparsity about him in the historic materials, the attention paid to Xuenneng is quite limited.This paper expatiates on Xueneng himself and his poetry based on his poems and related histrioc materials. The paper includes two parts: textual research and poetics . The first part is textual research which talks about Xueneng's birth place, social actvicty and his jounrney to Shu according to the historic materials related to Xueneng and the poems between him and other people at the same time. Little about Xuenneng's journey to Shu can be found in historic materials. Madouquan thinks that Xuenneng is born in Puzhou. The writer gives this part a careful and rigorous research according to Xueneng's poems and his family tree. And the writer makes a decision that Xueneng is born in Fenyin. Meanwhile, the writer expatiates on the seventeen people that socialize with Xueneng which enlude poets, officials, Taorists and so on in order to conclude his poetry ideology. Then, the period of his living in Shu play an important role on Xuenneg's poetry. The writer give some new ideas on his Shu journey which include that he did not enter Shu with Lifu as the historic materials show. The writer have the idea that Xueneng went into Shu in the summer of Xiantong the fifth year.The second part is poetics . In this part, the writer expatiates on the ideology the poetic charaters. Xueneng's poems talk about the ordinary people, critisizing the abuses, expressing emotions and socializing. Xueneng is good at lushi and jueju. This paper expatiates on this from five aspects as type of literature, source of poems, aesthetic pursue, choices on intent, characters of language.
