Research On The Insurance Industry Of Northeast China During Puppet Manchukuo

The emergence and development of insurance in modern Northeast China relates to the invasion of foreign capitalism.Although there are some insurance—organizations, such as Escort Agency and Regatta before modern in China. The insurance with modern significance begins after Yingkou has been a trading port.Before the September 18 th Incident,foreign merchants monopolized the insurance in Northeast China. With the founding of Manchukuo, Japanese insurance institutions poured into Northeast China and monopolied this insurance market.The insurance has deviated its original function and become the instrument of Japanese colonization.My study takes the insurance in the Manchukuo period of Northeast China as the main line, then introduces the development of insurance in this period.In the end,the study makes a certain evaluation about the insurance in modern Northeast China.The first part introduces the insurance before the Manchukuo in Northeast China. It mainly discusses as followings: the origin of insurance in modern Northeast China and the insurance in Northeast China before the September 18 th Incident.The former introduces the evolution of Escort Agency and Regatta with the characteristics of early insurance,and the latter mainly introduces the development of foreign and Chinese insurance institutions in Northeast China before the September 18 th Incident.The second part mainly discusses the insurance laws and supervisions in Manchukuo period.It mainly discusses two laws——《Postal Life Insurance Law》and《Insurance Business Law》.At the same time, my study makes a comparison between insurance regulations in Manchukuo period and those made in the Late Qing Dynasty and Republic China. In the part of regulated industry, it mainly analyses the government’s economic control to insurance and introduces the establishment of insurance association.The third part mainly discusses the establishment of main insurance institutes in the Manchukuo period.Throughout the Manchukuo period,Japanese insurance companies have been in the monopoly position,especially Manchu Life Insurance Co.Ltd and Manchu Fire Insurance Co.Ltd. Chinese and other foreign insurance institutions are difficult to maintain under Japanese exclusion. So in this part, it describes as following: Manchu Life Insurance Co.Ltd、Manchu Fire Insurance Co.Ltd、Yingkou Self-defense Fire-water Insurance Company and other institutions.The fourth part discusses the development of main insurance businesses in the Manchukuo period.It mainly introduces Injury insurance and Life insurance.The latter one is the main point,so it is the key content in this part.Based on the front,the fifth part makes an evaluation to the insurance in Manchukuo period,and reveals the essence of economic invasion that Japan makes to Northeast China.
