A Practice Report Of The Consecutive Interpreting Of Logic Show "The Global Brain"

With the increasingly frequent contacts between China and the world, Interpreting has been playing a more important role in a variety of fields. Logic Show, as an emerging we-media, has been drawing a good number of internet followers’ attention by offering one-minute voice message every morning, video show every Friday and social connecting opportunities, with more than 2 millions of followers within 3 years.This practice report will make a detailed analysis of the process in interpreting one episode of the talk show, named “The Global Brain” by means of the technique of consecutive interpreting. This Talk Show gets the reputation for its independent- thinking, facts-presenting and connecting to everyday life, showing a picture of the future world.This report is divided into three parts. Chapter one is on the subject of the task description, accordingly pointing out the reasons for choosing this Chinese to English interpreting project under discussion. Chapter two describes the two aspects of pre-interpreting preparation and interpreting procedure. Chapter three is the central part of this report, including three interconnected stages in the consecutive interpreting(Comprehension, De-verbalization and Re-expression), the functions of background knowledge and offering some relevant suggestions on how to improve one’s level of interpreting in a proper-speed and accurate way.The author hopes this report can provide helpful references and inspiration for the interpreting learners who have interest or problems in interpreting TV shows.
