The Scene Of The Opera Falstaff

Falstaff is the pinnacle of technique of creation by the Italian composer Verdi, and it’s an important comic opera work in opera history. This work has a great breakthrough compare to previous works, which overturns the Italian opera traditional breakout points of writing technique, free flow of opera music. But there exits lots of flexible scenarios in work which have complete drama movements and obvious music termination, so that the opera has a sense of structure and hierarchy. And this is the biggest difference between Verdi and wagner Symphony opera work. I want to understand ideas and methods of this opera by the composer through research the methods of scene construction.The paper tries to study and discuss on this opera by the combination of music and drama analysis ideas and methods. The paper divides into four chapters. The first chapter is the introduction on the basic situation and scene segmentation on the research object; The second chapter analyzes the basic materials of scene music to explore the methods of combination and means from the point of music analysis; The third chapter analyzes the drama performance function of the scene to understand the presentation of drama in opera scenes from the point of drama analysis; The fourth chapter summarizes three kinds of style structure in the opera to render Verdi diverse technique of scene construction from macroscopic perspective; The last chapter is the conclusion.The conclusion of the paper is the technique of scenario construction by Verdi has combined music and drama into an organic whole. The form of music-drama language and operation scheme has reached quite high level. Verdi’s method and practice are neither bound by the rules of traditional Italian opera, nor surrender of German opera techniques. They all serve for drama performance.
