Uwe Loesch is the leading German graphic designer in this image era of the information explosion. He’s frequently doing cross-languages and cross-cultural communication with designers around the world. Both the cross-media techniques methods and the concept of treasuring visual communication he applies inventively reflect the core concept of visual communication design in this age.His success derives from his distinction. In this thesis, it mainly discusses that how Uwe Loesch is different from other German designer peers and how he is able to achieve communicating with audience while he is discriminating and defamiliarization of symbols, applying diverse media and absorbing contemporary art making the picture a "convoluted nature".This thesis consists of three parts which include an introduction, main body and an open conclusion. The main body which has been divided into four chapters:The second chapter is an introduction, in which the author analyzes the cultural background of his poster design through his works. The third chapter is an important chapter, where author summarizes and demonstrates his style features through basic forms, interaction between text and image and composition of form language. The fourth chapter is the core section, which focuses on the analysis of the relationship between design concepts and forms.Chapter V of this paper, starting from the concept of culture and then getting in depth to culture, explores its deep cultural context behind the poster. From the aspect of German national character, artistic trends and artists (Bauhaus theory, Dadaism, and the impact of Beuys on him), it analyzes the source of the form of the picture from the perspective of his religious and philosophical roots. The conclusion of this thesis is an open discussion. In this paper, it is gradually analyzing and answering one of the questions that where the "incomprehensible" nature of Uwe Loesch’s posters comes from and how to present the form. Then it comes to the conclusion that, firstly, the convoluted nature comes from the abstract and blurred image of the subject, the visual impact from the contrast between strong fluorescent color and complementary color, the form using the diversity of media in order to gaining attention; secondly, Uwe Loesch fully develops the depth and breadth of the German language, focus on the relationship of texts and pictures, and build up deeper figure meaning; finally, he indicates the association between forms and themes through details under extraordinary arrangements in order to achieve the communication with audience.
