Comparison Of Jin And Chu’s History And Culture In The Western Zhou Dynasty

From the view of history, Jin and Chu were two important vassal states in The Western Zhou Dynasty. They both became the hegemonic power in The Eastern Zhou Dynasty. From the view of regional culture, Jin was the reflect of civilization of The Yellow River basin, Chu was reflect of civilization of The Yangtze River basin. Their history and culture all achieved development on the basis of the foundation in The Eastern Zhou Dynasty. Both of them were found and develop in The Western Zhou Dynasty. So this study is useful.Archaeological research deepen our understanding of the appearance and characteristic of their culture, and broaden our thinking about the study. We will study their territories by consulting the concept of Political Geography, by using the method of History, and by drawing upon the achievement of Archaeology. And then study their capital.Environment, the foundation of a country’s existence and development, influence the development and characteristic of the culture of a state. Jin and Chu both existed in the environment that they depend on, inherited the accumulation of the former culture that had existed on the ground they got knighthood, developed in the complicated geopolitics relations, and got the initial development in The Western Zhou Dynasty.Clear the overview of their historical development can reflect the cause and effect intuitively. Jin and Chu both got knighthood in The Western Zhou Dynasty, but one was the same surname vassal country, while one was different surname vassal country, one had strong dependence on Zhou, while one had weak dependence on Zhou. Their different relationship with Zhou caused their different history and culture, and it effected their different appearance of history and culture.Grave and objects contain lots of information,we can know many about the culture through the study of them.The arguments above were the cause that the two countries developed. Then the grave and objects are the reflect of the history and culture. The study of this paper can deepen our understanding of their history and culture.
