Jean-Marie Gustave Le Clézio,the 2008 Nobel Prize winner,is a writer who has special feeling for the world.He has traveled to many places around the world. The author’s personal experience enables him to enjoy the civilization of all nationalities in the world, but also to reach civilization diversity beyond the western civilization.Among them, African culture has a special meaning for the author. At the age of seven,he started the trip to Africa to find his father, and then touched and understood Africa which is full of mystery but real and friendly. The author writes this kind of special affection into his works. He emphasizes the affection of Africa in Africa culture description in the Africa-theme novels. However, through writing African culture, on one hand, people have a further understanding to it and have a fresh look at it. On the other hand, it criticizes how the materialism in modern European civilization restrains people.The aim is to awaken numbness of the human mind in the industrial civilization through the African culture.African culture in Le Clezio’s works is with foreign style. The works present the natural culture, the religious culture and the folk culture. Describes the aggression and assimilation of European culture, the destruction and disappearance of the traditional African culture, the awakening and resistance of the national cultural. At the same time, the writing of African culture in works by Le Clezio show the unique ecological concept and the theme of reconstructing of spiritual home, the author posed a problem about the searching of the cultural identity. the works of Le Clezio dig out aesthetic value and social significance of African culture.
