To my way of thinking, the education about vocabulary is the basis of foreign Chinese teaching. The Chinese vocabulary “Yihou” is being frequently used in Chinese daily conversations, which is also one of the earliest Chinese word being learned for those students abroad. However,in the practical use of “Yihou”,those students abroad could have made lots of mistakes as the unfamiliarity with the meaning and the usage of this word. Therefore, this article determines to do the further study toward the usage of the word “Yihou”.With the experience of the education of foreign Chinese teaching, this article would like to do the study from several research points,which include the syntactic, the semantic and the diachronic investigation.This article is divided into six parts to do the study. In the first chapter, firstly,the dissertations reason, the meaning of the topic and the present academic research at home and abroad about this word are introduced. The second chapter is the diachronic investigation about the word “Yihou”, which analyze the process and the reason of the lexicalization of “Yihou”. As to the third chapter, this article would make a detailed analysis of the word from the perspective of the syntactic and the semantic.This article would also like to make a research about the typical and regular errors made by the students abroad when making use of the word “Yihou”, and this research is based as the collected data.this is exactly the content of the chapter four. In the final chapter, the main contents of this whole article is summarized and the shortcomings about the author’s study is pointed out, which is out of the hope that someone in the later research could help to do better.
