Research On Chinese Irony

Chinese irony is one of the most important figures of speech in C hinese rhetoric. It has internal rules of the using and understanding of C hinese irony. The multiple rhetorical effect of C hinese irony has important research value. Combining the language usage of the grammaticalization theory and the context theory, and using the data based on the real material of Chinese irony, this paper tries to study the classification, the generation and using,the receiving and understanding,and the expression of Chinese irony.The first chapter is the introduction.It explains the origin and the object of the research, summarizes the research status of irony, and expounds the ideas, the methods, the significance,and the source corpus of the research.In the second chapter, we discusse the classification of Chinese irony.According to the syntactic unit of choice of the Chinese irony, this paper will be divided into the word formation of Chinese irony and the sentence irony. In the word formation of irony,we mainly discusse the characteristics of the word formation of irony, distinguish the word formation of irony and the rhetoric irony color, discusse the pragmatic grammaticalization of C hinese irony using "good" as an example. For the sentence irony,we mainly analyze the Chinese irony composed of declarative sentences, exclamatory sentences and imperative sentences.In the third chapter, combining the theory of context and the analysis of the corpus,we discusse the generation and using of Chinese irony from the speaker’s negative attitude, the subjective expectation, the speaker’s communicative object, the social and cultural background of the communication,and other aspects.In the fourth chapter, based on the expression characteristics of Chinese irony and the context theory,we study the receiving and understanding of the hearer from the linguistic context and extra linguistic context. For the prompt action of the irony, the linguistic context consists of the modifying composition of the irony and the interpretation composition of the irony. For the prompt action of the extra linguistic context,we maily study the language hints of the speaker, the discourse context and the communication between the two sides.In the fifth chapter, combining with the analysis of the effect of C hinese irony of the corpus,we divide the effect of Chinese irony into the indirect expression of Chinese irony attitude and the additional effect of expression,and make the distinction between the different additional effect of expression.The chapter sixth is the conclusion. It summarizes the main work and the main innovation points of this paper,and points out the deficiencies.
