On The Exploration Of The Freedom In Stoicism

Under the view of stoicism, freedom and fate are always together. According to subject classification of stoicism, physics in the service of ethics, but its physics is so much emphasis on rational inevitability of the universe and life, that seems to fundamentally eliminate the ethical concerns of people freedom of choice and moral responsibility. What the Stoicism emphasized is that freedom is the sublation of the spirit of cynicism. The nutrition Cynicism provided in the history of philosophy is a negative personal freedom. However, the Stoicism turned the individualism of cynical to a fighter full of energy. And that is to say the stoicism assigned individualism to the world again. The relationship between Individual and the world is no longer isolated in the style of Epicurus, but coordinate and interlinked with unity.From the perspective of stretching of freedom and the fate, the early stage Stoicism philosopher Chrysippus put forward his metaphor named "cylinder", i.e. The attempts to meticulously divided reasons into external and internal factors in order to solve the intense conflictions between the two; while as to the later period Stoicism philosopher Epictetus, the spiritual freedom of individual has became the essence of us in his point of view, as a subjective strength.
