Liu tao, the ancient Chinese military book,one of the best art of war, which has been put in wujingqishu,the seven best art of war in Song dynasty.It is one of the splendid books with the most Chinese characters and rich contents.From the angle of the history of Chinese characters,this paper mainly focused on doing research from the military terms from Liu Tao.It can be divided into three parts:The First Part: General Introduction.Generally present the ancient literature records,make remarks on research situation,clarify the significance, heavy difficult and research methods on this paper.The Second Part:Chapter One.Classification and Characteristics of Military Terms.This part is regard as the main part,based on the meaning and method of military terms classify the 375 Chinese character into 7 section and explain each word;add the lost items or the outtake words to The Dictionary of Chinese Character and The Great Chinese Dictionary.According to careful analysis,we can draw a conclusion that monosyllabic word is no longer take advantage,give place to polysyllabic words which has a lasting growth tendency in Liu Tao.The Third Part:Chapter Two.The study on the weaponry of Liu Tao.On the basis of previous chapter,organizing a splendid and massive arsenal of weapons panorama.Conclusion.Through a thorough study on Liu Tao,we find the reason why the polysyllable words has such growing tendency is to meet the needs of the era.On the side of weaponary,we find that cavalry,infantry,charioteer use coordination in army combat and the apply for various weapon is the most remarkable feature in that era.
