The Analysis Of Painting Implements

In this paper, the author feels and understands the conception of “prop” through the oil painting from its own practice of painting, thus finding out that prop is of great significance for painting both in content and in form. On the basis of its own experience in painting, the doubts arising therefrom, as well as its study of the paintings of several great western artists, the author educes the prop in the painting. what is prop? What role does prop play in the painting? The basic prototype of prop is traced from the developmental history of art, and then the effect and significance of prop in painting is being discussed. The great artists mentioned in this paper have expressed prop from different perspectives. One can expound the application of prop to painting by taking their paintings as an example, thus explaining the effect and significance of prop and the “illustration”, “symbolic”, “metaphor”, “subjectivity” of painting. It not only is the characteristic object which is most expressive in painting, but also manifests the continuity of prop in the historical context, thus possessing distinct era impressions. Those impressions are the mark of prop undergoing constant changes in the historical civilization. Following theses artist’s steps for creation, elaborating the connections between them and the development in the painting context by is just the main line of the expounding of prop. This main line also is applied to my practice of painting, thus guiding me to explore and develop some new possibilities of prop during my creation.
