In the study, as the study object, the processing of ambiguous word in classical Chinese, the effect of context, and the difference in lexical processing by high school students with different cognitive styles were researched, besides, thinking fatigue differences in different contexts and cognitive styles were also studied. In the first study, the probe word was presented followed a sentence, subjects were asked to judge the significance of probe word whether conform to the sentence, to explore the processing of ambiguous words in classical sentence-context and the difference of ambiguity’s inhibition between field- dependence(FD) and field-independence(FI) individualss. In the second study, via judging whether the probe word is a true word, the processing of ambiguous words in word-context and the difference of ambiguous words between field-dependence and field-independence individuals were researched. Through the analysis of experimental data, the study drew the following conclusions :(1) In the classical Chinese sentence-context, the two meaning of ambiguous words are all activated in the early phase of ambiguous words’ processing;(2) In the classical Chinese sentence-context, context plays a role in the late phase of ambiguous words’ processing, supporting multiple access model or order-access model;(3) In the classical Chinese sentence-context, the FI individuals can better inhibit inappropriate meaning of ambiguous word, as the extension of time, the FD individuals showed earlier than the FI individuals to inhibit inappropriate meaning of ambiguous word;(4) In the classical Chinese word-context, the two meaning of ambiguous word are activated in the ambiguous words’ processing;(5) Both context and the relative frequency of ambiguous word meaning are the factors which influence the lexical ambiguity processing, when the context is weaker, the relative frequency of ambiguous word s meaning play a leading role, supporting the context sensitive model;(6) In the word-context, the FD individuals were more influenced by the context, while, the FI individuals was more influenced by the relative frequency of ambiguous words meaning;(7) Compared with the word-context, sentence-context caused higher thinking fatigue in the processing of ambiguous words;(8) In the sentence-context and the word-context, the differences of the thinking fatigue level between the FI individuals and the FD individuals are not significant.
