The Explore Of Dingyi’s Vocal Art

Ding Yi has been acting as a tenor, singer, and educator at home and abroad since China’s reform and opening up, at the same time, he also plays a leading role in Sydney Opera House, Australia as the chief tenor and the only Asian singer. Proudly, he was praised as the best opera actor and the brilliant tenor by Joan Sutherland, the world opera queen. Ding Yi can not only play foreign operas, Chinese and foreign songs, but also can sing Chinese traditional folk songs, pop songs and other style vocals with his excellent singing skills. His performance has a strong sense of the times and advancement, and expresses emotional sincerity with consummate singing skills, which formed his unique singing temperament and style, hero. His success and achievement in vocal music field has an important contribution to our country. This thesis summarized some comments and interviews to Ding Yi in dissertations, journal articles, newspapers, Internet resources and so on by collecting a large number of audiovisual materials from his opera performances, concerts, albums, CD, DVD, online videos, exclusive interviews etc. Furthermore, the thesis comprehensively analyzed Ding Yi’s success in singing, his singing characteristics, and his contributions in vocal music to our country. In addition, the paper appraised the singing art of Ding Yi with a new perspective through analyzing his successful opera performances at home and abroad, Chinese and foreign songs, and Chinese folk songs etc. All of these will be helpful in vocal music learning and teaching, and even in terms of academic.This thesis is made up with three parts, introduction, four main bodies and conclusion. The introduction mainly stated the research significance, research status, research methods and innovation.Chapter one, discussed Ding Yi’s artistic path and his outstanding achievements.Chapter two, analyzed Ding Yi’s singing characteristics, adept singing skills and diversity in singing.Chapter three, expounded the unique personality of Alfred performed by Ding Yi in opera La Traviata authored by Verdi.Chapter four, briefly described thinking and evocation brought by Ding Yi’s singing experiences, and stated its positive influence in vocal music learning and teaching.The last is the conclusion.
