The material referred to in this report is selected from KOSTAL Injection Molding Requirement Specifications, which is drawn up by KOSTAL Company to restrain and guide designers and bench works in Suzhou Herui Technologies Ltd. Company to make molds. It introduces the professional knowledge on mold designing and making. The source text belongs to technical text with the characteristics of plain language, many imperative sentences, infinitive and conditional sentences.The translation practice is based on the Skopostheorie proposed by Hans J. Vermeer. According to Skopostheorie, translation is a kind of cross-culturual human communication with clear aim and purpose and on the basis of source text. Skopostheorie stresses on translator’s subjective initiative and the anticipate function of target text. The “purpose” said by Vermeer means the purpose of the target text and the whole translation activity. The translation purpose is to make the staff in Suzhou Herui understand the customer’s requirements more clearly, and reduce the troubles caused from language obstacle. According to Skopos theory and the characteristics of the source text, the translator uses some translation methods such as free translation, addition and sentence restruction to translate the key and difficult points in the text under the guidance of domestication strategy. The source text’s maker, the translator and the target reader all participate in the translation process, which fully realized the communicative function of the target text.
