The article consists of six parts. Part One is the introduction, including Wang Bao’s research overview, the major significance and contents of the dissertation.Part Two denotes the first chapter of the article, mainly about the study and comparisons on the birth, death and life story of Wang Bao. His natal date is impossible to trace back, and his obituary year is quite controversial. This dissertation puts forward that he died at B.C.49 on the basis of research on most available notions. With regard to the biology of Wang Bao, the paper defines the main structure of the events of his life through elaborate textual research.Part Three is investigation study on works of Wang Bao. Divided by two parts, the chronological research and the spread of Wang Bao’s works, the chronology lists the creation of Wang Bao in sequence, and the spread states the circulation of the works.The fourth part highlights the key section of the article. Through reviewing the literary creation, the paper divided his works into two main categories, Fu and Prose. According to the ideological content and artistically accomplishment of each category, the paper discusses the important position and literature influence of Wang Bao as a previous writer during the middle and later in the Western Han Dynasty.The fifth part mainly discusses the acceptance situation of Wang Bao and his works before Song Dynasty. In Han Dynasty, Wang Bao is praised highly; when it comes to the period of Wei, Jin and Southern and Northern Dynasties, the acceptance is both positive and negative; it expends further in Tang and Song Dynasties, and gets more far-reaching.The last part concluded the comprehensive statement and the overall evaluation on Wang Bao. In summary, the author reckons that Wang Bao is conductive to Han Fu, and his literary influence and status should not be ignored and deserves more extensive attention.
