Fitzgerald, one of the famous writer of the world, used detailed observation to explained the "lost" of the last century, the United States 20,30 years, but inspired his "pursue" carefully. His novels interweave this two sentiment, struggle with his heart and impel his readers all the time.People always say that Fitzgerald is unsuccessful and expend his talent and squander his life in the sensual pleasures, but his works often show up a spiritual quality of the pursuit of progress and anatomy self. We are not able to define Fitzgerald’s novels on a style of the changing times, nor can simply phrase "American dream" shattered to cover the topic of all his works. In the early Fitzgerald’s creation, in the works of "This Side of Paradise" and "The Beautiful and Damned", his protagonists are really sad and confused with a certain stamp of "Jazz Age", but can not cover up the inherent spirit of self-questioning, or exploring the spiritual journey of Amory, or like Anthony’s unyielding stubborn. Then Fitzgerald’s "The Great Gatsby" declared his noble spirit to the world-loyalty. It looks like a love tragedy, in fact, Fitzgerald expose the lies of age and reveal the hypocritical veil of "American Dream" through it. Gatsby and Nick become the embodiment of both sides of Fitzgerald spiritual pursuit. Therefore, this tragedy become a successful search for tour of hope. In the next two novels of "Tender is the Night""The Last Tycoon’s Love", Fitzgerald assume a posture of struggle. Nick left Nicole with a painful lesson to seek the refuge of mind and body, while Stahl defeat selfish, cruel and arrogant based on a image of hero. We can say that Fitzgerald never stop the footsteps of "search", and desire through a positive sense of writer to answer puzzle of era, to provide a profound negative examples for the majority young people of the United States, to let them know themselves and get a great spiritual comfort "export".Fitzgerald undoubtedly have a great spirit of sacrifice and noble. He suffered a extravagant life of upper class, while his heart was still the poor guy from St. Paul in the Midwest. He saw the dilapidated life of Hollywood apartment in remote abjection, but the dream was still as "the Son of God" as a firm Gatsby. "Lost" and "Pursue", Fitzgerald never stop and will be eternal.
