T. Tolstaya is one of the famous authors of Russian postmodern literature, her first novel “The SLYNX” is broadly discussed in academia, and is called “Encyclopedia of Russian Life”. Although “The SLYNX” is classified as postmodern literature, with the natural anti-utopian traits of Russian postmodern literature, it also displays the anti-utopian literature characteristics. Anti-utopian literature exerts the “brilliant” principles of sense, fairness etc. promoted in the utopian literature to the most. By using the writing techniques of exaggeration and irony, it reveals the tragic traits of utopian ridiculous assumption with the purpose of warning and criticizing the real world. “The SLYNX” incorporating the dual identity of postmodernism and anti-utopian appeals us to explore the trip, revealing its anti-utopian literature characteristics under the view of the postmodernism, again.This thesis consists of five parts. The first part is “Introduction” to present the artist features of T.Tolstaya, domestic and foreign research situation; the First Chapter states the origin of Russian anti-utopian literature. Through talking about three representative literary articles “We”, “Chevengur” and “Night Hunt” in terms of Russian anti-utopian literature, to research the “paradigm shift” of Russian anti-utopian literature in the 20 th century. The Second Chapter discusses the objective reason for the generation of Russian postmodern literature and the anti-utopian literature characteristics implied in postmodern literature. Chapter Three demonstrates the anti-utopian traits of “The SLYNX” through four aspects, protagonist’s experience in “The SLYNX”, variation and portray of dual personality, similarity of background settings and satire, criticism on centralized rule. The last part is “Conclusion”.
