Research On The Difference Of The Pronunciation In Kaifeng District

The Yellow River basin is the birthplace of Chinese civilization. Kaifeng lies in the south of the Yellow River had become our country’s economic, political and cultural center for many times in history, therefore Kaifeng dialect play an important part in Chinese history. It had been spread and used as the country’s most authoritative standard pronunciation of our country for many times, and it also has a special significance in Central Plains Mandarin and Henan dialect. But due to the changes of times and the turmoil of history, Kaifeng’s status is changing all the time and Kaifeng dialect used as a standard pronunciation is also evolving with the development of times. This paper mainly introduces the dialects characteristics of Kaifeng City and its five counties to study the diachronic evolution of Kaifeng dialect from the perspective of the synchronic differences through comparative analysis.Chapter one is the general part. It summarizes the human geography of Kaifeng area and the research status of Kaifeng dialect. Due to the important status of Kaifeng dialect in Chinese history, so Kaifeng dialect has historically been recorded and described by many scholars and outstanding literature. It also introduces the phonetic symbols used in this paper and people investigated for this paper.Chapter two introduces the sound systems.Chapter three is research on the characteristics of Kaifeng dialects. Firstly, it lists the sound systems of dialects of Kaifeng City and its five counties. Then it summarizes the similarities of dialects in Kaifeng area. It introduces the modern voiced syllable initials, the conditions of separate ni and lai initial consonants and fei and xiao initial consonants in terms of consonants. In terms of vowels, it introduces the modern guo and jia vowels and erhua and suffix zi. Finally, it summarizes the phonology transformation of entering tone characters of Kaifeng dialects. The last part describes the common characteristics of the dialects in Kaifeng area in terms of tone.Chapter four is the focus of this paper. It describes the difference of dialects in Kaifeng area. It compares and analyzes the dialects of Kaifeng City and its five counties by the approach of comparison. It summarizes that the biggest differences of the dialects in Kaifeng area are the sharp and rounded sounds and the evolution of medieval zhi-zhuang-zhang. Chapter three also describes some pronunciations which are disappearing in Kaifeng dialects. It introduces the disappearing of ? and v and an increase in the number of zero initial ? in terms of consonants. It also introduces the two-read phenomenon of guo vowels, xie vowels and yu vowels in terms of vowels.Chapter five is the conclusion part. The paper studies the diachronic evolution of Kaifeng dialect from the perspective of the synchronic linguistic differences through comparative analysis. This part summarizes the significance of this study and the result of the comparative analysis.
