There is a strong connection among the self, emotion, and memory. On the other side, vocabulary and context have a distinctive impact on the process of language cognitive. A great number of Researches have studied the relationship between the self and emotion, but there is little research on the effect of both on memory. Thus, it is meaningful to investigate the impact of different materials, including vocabulary and context materials, on the memory respectively by using implicit processing paradigm under the premise of the interrelation between self-related and emotional valence information. The research is divided into two parts. By using the R/K judgment paradigm, the first part discusses the influence of self-related and emotional valence information, of different word category respectively, on memory. Employing the context of great external validity as experiment material, the second part studies the impact of self-related and emotional valence information on the memory under different context conditions. Results showed that:(1) memory advantage emerged out of self-related information;(2) performance on self-related negative memory was significantly better than that of other memory;(3) the main effect of emotional valence in context materials is significant; the main effect of word formation is also significant;(4) memory advantage about self-related trait words occurred in R judgment, while memory advantage of self-related non-trait words occurred in K judgment. The results revealed that the category of word have no influence on the memory of self-related and emotional valence information, while it will be influential to the memory of self-related information. Independent of the experiment materials, the participants showed memory advantage of self-related negative information. Compare to vocabulary materials, context materials with great external validity cause more intense reaction to the participants leading to a better distinction of the details in the context materials. The current research is of a great importance to illustrate the relationship between the self, emotion, and memory and it has important contribution to the study of self-awareness and well-being.
