Farming and weaving picture is a special form of ancient Chinese calligraphy and painting, which depicts the ancient Chinese country life. Later characteristi poems were written specially by ancient Chinese poets for farming and weaving pictures. In the Southern Song Dynasty, a poet named Lou Shu wrote a group of poems on the farming and weaving pictures, from then on, the creation of poems about farming and weaving pictures developed rapidly and in the Qing Dynasty reached a peak. Poems wrote for the farming and weaving pictures not only had played a guiding role on agricultural production but also had high literary and artistic values as a cultural phenomenon.This essay includes six chapters. Chapter one and two probe the origin and development of ancient Chinese farming and weaving pictures and poems. The rest of the four chapters according to the dynasty order probe the creation background, ideological content and artistic features about poems of farming and weaving pictures respectively. The ancient Chinese country life paintings were scattered and could not form system before Southern Song Dynasty, however they were the origin of ancient Chinese farming and weaving pictures. Until in Southern Song Dynasty Lou Shu’s works marked the beginning of farming and weaving pictures with systemic and under his influence farming and weaving pictures emerged in endlessly. Poems about farming and weaving pictures first appeared in the period in Northern Song Dynasty. The well-developed culture and the art of painting and painting poems’ prosperous all provided conditions for the breeding of poems about farming and weaving pictures. In the Southern Song Dynasty, Lou Shu wrote a group of poems which were the earliest group poems about farming and weaving pictures in China and were also the first painting poems named Farming or Weaving Poems. Lou Shu’s works depicted the farming and weaving in southern ancient China region and vividly showed farmers’ hard working and the folk custom in the areas of Jiang Su and Zhe Jiang. In the Yuan and Ming Dynasty poems about farming and weaving pictures continued to be written and the number continued to increase. Zhao Mengfu of Yuan Dynasty created a group of poems which in an imperial decree not only embodied the rulers’will, but also revealed the poet’s deep sympathy to farmers. In the Ming Dynasty a scholar named Kuang Fan created a group of poems about farming and weaving pictures which were included in his book named Bian Min Tu Zuan. His poems took the form of Zhu Zhi poem which was popular in Jiang Su and Zhe Jiang region and very easy to understand. In the Qing Dynasty poems about farming and weaving pictures created and experienced a prosperous period. On the one hand, the number had been more than the sum of all previous dynasties. On the other hand, the subject had appeared poetry of cotton picture, sericulture picture and oak cocoon picture, which had not seen in the past. There were two groups had created poems about farming and weaving pictures, one was delegated with Kang Xi and Qian Long emperors, the other was delegated with Qian Chenqun and He Taiqing who were literati. The former were rulers to encourage farming and weaving, the latter were scholars’poetry responsorial.
