Microsaccades are the largest and fastest of the fixational eye movements,which are involuntary eye movements produced during attempted visual fixation.In recent years, the interaction between microsaccades, visual perception and visual cognition has become one of the most rapidly growing areas of study in visual physiology. In particular, microsaccades contribute to maintaining visibility during fixation by shifting the retinal image in a fashion that overcomes adaptation.Working memory is the system that actively holds multiple pieces of transitory Information in the mind for execution of verbal and nonverbal tasks.It is a theoretical framework that refers to structures and processes used for temporarily storing and manipulating information.In cognitive psychology,cognitive load refers to the total amount of mental effort being used in the working memory.In this article,cognitive load has been designed to provide guidelines intended to assist in the presentation of information in a manner. visual working memory in the presence of microsaccades.Existing research shows that microsaccades frequency in addition to the influence of visual perception, also be attention,computational complexity and task difficulty, and other cognitive factors.However,it is not seen microsaccades reports and related research of the relationship between working memory load.Then,the microsaccades frequency is affected by working memory load change?For such problems,we used a simple fixational eye movements experimental paradigm to investigate this problem.This research adopts the colors by the subjects of different project the number of color piece of memory accuracy to reflect the size of the cognitive load,and record the number of microsaccades frequency in the course of working memory and memory accuracy of subjects, analysis the relationship between the two projects.The results found that the cognitive load,the greater the working memory had higher frequency of microsaccades,is a direct proportion relationship between them, under the same external information,microsaccades happened frequency is higher, our memories of the outside information accuracy is higher.Our conclusions have positive significance to develop a new method to study the relationship between cognitive load and microsaccades,and it also provided the clues to understand the effect of microsaccades.
