Working memory (WM) is a psychology concept that it is very widely used in current cognitive, and it spring up like mushrooms in the sixties and seventieth of the last century. Working memory refers to the systemor system is considered to be necessary in order to remember things in to perform complex tasks, such as reasoning, comprehension and learning. In the past 30 years, the concept of working memory has been widely used, from its origins in many fields of cognitive psychology, cognitive science and neuroscience, and been used in the education, through psychiatry to paleoanthropology.A large number of scholars have carried on the thorough research of working memory, and have built a dozen of working memory model, one of most famous model is three component model that put forward by Baddeley and Hitch. The earlier concept of the short-term memory has been elaborated to include an attentional controller and two modality based temporary stores, one for visual material, the visuo-spatial sketchpad, and one for verbal acoustic material, the phonological loop. The components are assumed to interact, and to be linked to both perception and long-term memory, The model has subsequently proved both useful and resilient, but has had to be supplemented by a fourth component, the episodic buffer This is episodic in that it is capable of holding multidimensional episodes or chunks, which may combine visual and auditory information possibly also with smell and taste. It is a buffer in that it provides a temporary store in which the various components of working memory, each based on a different coding system, can interact through participation in a multidimensional code, and can interface with information from perception and long-term memory. The episodic buffer is assumed to have a limited capacity of about four chunks or episodes, and to be accessible through conscious awareness. In its initial form, the buffer was assumed to play an active and attentionally-demanding role in binding together information from different sources, but further investigation suggests that it serves as a passive store rather than an active processor.By reviewing previous studies of working memory components at home and abroad, we found that most studies are separate sub components of working memory, few studies on the interaction between the two sub components, international studies have involved, but the two completely different point of view:the first kind of view is that visual working memory is not affected by verbal working memory; but is another kind of view is:when in a visual working memory task, if the words load reach the storage capacity of verbal working memory, visual working memory performance would be significantly decreased; that is to say, verbal working memory affect the completion of tasks of visual working memory.Experiment 1 using verbal working memory and visual working memory "dual task paradigm" study the views on the above again. Preliminary exploration visual working memory and verbal working memory interaction under the condition of low visual working memory load, working memory span tested by Change detection paradigm that Vogel used in research in 2004. In the task, subjects requires memory and recognition of the objects number of 2,4,6. The working memory span calculated by a formula K=S×(H-F), which put forward by Pashler and Cowan. In the end, the results showed that visual working memory and there was no interaction between verbal working memory.Experiment 2 using the same verbal working memory and visual working memory "dual task paradigm" views on the above study again, In addition to the following differences:first in experiment 1, participants need to split screen for memory, but for the whole screen memory in experiment 2, and the objects replaced by 4 and 8. However, the results also showed that visual working memory and there was no interaction between verbal working memory.Experiment 3 using ERP component CDA and N2pc so that deeper exploration from the physiological signal level Experiment 3 procedures and materials exactly as same as experiment 2. In experiment 3 discovered a strange phenomenon, if the analysis of all the trials, there is no visual working memory about the interaction of verbal working memory, and if only analyzed the condition of correctly, there is also not significant interaction between visual working memory. Based on eeg data with sample support visual working memory and verbal working memory between the obvious not influence each other. The study on the relationship between the visual working memory and verbal working memory has carried on the system research, found that there is no interaction between verbal working memory visual and working memory, Visual working memory and verbal working memory, respectively, depending on the space belonging to the visuo-spatial sketchpad, and phonological loop., two tasks at the same time when they will not cause a conflict of cognitive resources.
