Since twentieth Century, great changes have taken place in the Literature, which was influenced on by other subjects. Most writers have committed to the pursuit of a variety of writing skills on the experiment and innovation. In suchliterary context, Faulkner undertook all sorts of exploration of writing skills in his short stories. But he did not fall into formalism as other writers. In the aesthetic choice of literature, he repeatedly stressed the melange between form and content, the experiments and exploration of the form is to deepen the content of the works.The first chapter of the thesis, "narrative point of view and the function of Faulkner’s short stories" refers to the domestic and foreign theory about stylistics, to explore and deepen the comprehensive on Faulkner’s short stories from the first person perspective, the internal perspective and zero perspective. Narrative analyze how to arrange the story through classification of narrative angle of view, which belongs to the category skills; stylistics analyze the novel and the emotion in the language selection embodied the narrator’s attitude tendency through the language features of narrative. Then the inheritance and innovation on the stylistics were discussed.Faulkner’s short stories combine the modernism and traditional writing techniques together, with deep and sharp sights to show readers the imbalance of American old southern tradition order, racial decay, Northern industrial invasion which brought the alienation of people, the conflict value between the north and south,and the southerners have a feeling of lost, desperate and confused. Only much deeper exploration and research on Faulkner’s short stories, we can find Faulkner’s outstanding achievement in content and artistic feature.
