The Yi Ethnic spreads all over the Guizhou province which concentrated lives in the nearby regions of Wumeng Mountain between Yunnan and Guizhou and has a long history. It establishes Luodian, Luoshi ghost, Ziqi and other ethnic regimes in succession which all exist a long period of time, additionally it also lives together with the Han, Hui, Buyi, Miao, Gelao and other fraternal ethnics and communicates with each other quite frequently, so it forms a more developed ethnic culture and a unique ethnic geographical characteristics lastly. In the long process of production, the Yi ethnic creates its ethnical language, and records the voluminous ancient codes and records, which come to history, philosophy, geography, astronomy, calendar, literature, art, medicine, and region and so on. Among them, the Yi folk literature has a very rich contents, which not only including the universe’s creation myth and folklore to explain the universe, but also encompassing folk songs, folk narrative poems, epics, folk proverbs, folk riddles and so on. This paper intends to use the theory of ecology and ecological literature to analysis and deeper the origin of ecological awareness and contemporary significance.This paper consists of three chapters. The first chapter mainly traces to the source of the ecological consciousness of Yi folk literature. The second chapter mainly discusses the presents of ecological consciousness in Guizhou Yi folk literature. The third chapter makes a contemporary perspective for Guizhou YI folk literature from the perspective of ecological criticism.
