The Exploration On Leisure Entertainment Activities Of English Society During The Reign Of ElizabethⅠ

Tudor is the critical period for absolute state of England to generate and grow,it occupied an important place in English history,during which the 45 years reign of Queen Elizabeth made Tudor reach its height,political,economic and cultural development have been considerable in this period.Economic development and social progress caused people begin to pursue spiritual enjoyment in their spare time, a variety of leisure entertainment activities developed and prospered,leisure entertainment activities in this period reached a new height both in variety and range of influence, it build a vivid social life picture.Leisure entertainment activities was the important content of past human activities,it was also the main form of the development of human civilization.There are few achievements of leisure entertainment activities in the field of history, relevant entertainment theme of England history is basically limited in literature,drama and such like thick line contents in domestic.Leisure entertainment activities in history were naturally in thousands of postures in various countries,various areas and various nationalities,they enriched the content of life in the process of their historical development. In reading and examining the early modern English history, I paid special attention to the leisure life of the English, and thus formed the research topic of this article.The leisure entertainment activities of Elizabeth I were heterogeneous,they ranged from peaceful recreational activities,such as music, dance,drama,etc.and intense athletic activities, such as balls, tournament and so on, to communal holiday celebrations and Queen parades, there were also outdoor hunting and indoor tavern activities.They were popular with the public, and had a crucial impact on the spiritual life of the people during which that entertainment was relatively defective.These activities developed on the basis of previous generation and showed the characteristics of diversity, moreover,under the influence of some special factors it also had unique humanistic feature as well as more obvious stratification between classes. In addition, women were active in leisure entertainment activities during this period.Overall,The leisure entertainment activities of Elizabeth I were colorful,they flourished under the influence of political, economic, cultural factors, and they, in turn, affected the society of that time. Although there were some limitations in leisure entertainment activities during this period,but they still had a positive meaning from the perspective of the diversity of historical content,and they played an important role in people’s social life.
