How To Better Understand The Relationship Between Generality And Individuality In Piano Performance

Generality and individuality are the inherent nature of all things, any kind of phenomena or things contain this contradiction. In this paper, by analyzing generality and individuality, the basic concept of the dialectical relationship, we strive to better understand the relationship between generality and individuality in piano performance.The the existence of generality and individuality in piano performance is closely associated with the changes of keyboard instrument manufacturing industry, historical changes of piano art in each period, and the individual differences of piano composer and pianist. The generality in the piano performance reflected in the competency requirements of basic skill in piano performance and the importance of standardized training in piano performance. Based on respecting for the original, the composer and the characteristics of the times, they want to form their own distinctive features and playing style.
