| Through analyzing the technical Web News Headlines(WNHs) on The New York Times and China Daily, ambiguity, exaggeration and vulgarity are found to be the main problems in the E-C translations of technical WNHs. In accordance with the relevance theory, the problems have a negative effect on the communication between the translator and the reader as well as the optimal relevance of E-C translation of technical WNHs. Therefore, the thesis analyzes the translation problems and the reasons so as to propose several translation strategies, such as literal translation, liberal translation and conversion of sentence form. The strategies not merely solve problems in the E-C translation of technical WNHs, but enrich the intense research of relevance theory. |
