Wealth And Human Development Research

Since the reform and opening up, with the establishment of the market economy and the comprehensive transformation of social structure, the Chinese community has made great strides, which is typically characterized by a significant increase in wealth. Wealth lays a solid foundation of human development that has thus become an everyday topic. People desire it and using it to symbolize their identity and status. What is the nature of wealth? what do the creation of wealth and the distribution of wealth mean to human? Which concept of wealth need we to construct? These issues have become hot topics, and wealth has thus become the object of economics, sociology, ethics, philosophy and other disciplines of study. This paper intends to explore the dialectical relationship between wealth and human development from the perspective of the development of philosophy, revealing the nature of wealth and the significance of the wealth to human development, in order to build a scientific concept of wealth. Firstly, the retrospective theory of wealth will be discussed. After interpreting the wealth concept of land source, money-commodity characterization, using-value characterization and exchanging-value characterization, Marxist concept of wealth is defined as the most scientific concept of wealth now. Marxist concept of wealth is a labor wealth concept which as “new understanding of labor to create wealth” for the premise, is a people-oriented wealth concept using “the subject of labor” as the value orientation, is a wealth concept using “people’s ability and fair” as the cornerstone, is a positive wealth concept that reveals the fundamental role to the development of social productive forces and human, and is a historic wealth concept of “revealing the wealth historical forms”. From different perspectives, there are different manifestations, different forms of goods, different forms of capital and different forms of “free time” of wealth. There are material and spiritual wealth, natural wealth and human wealth. On this basis, this paper further discusses the dialectical relationship between wealth and human existence, wealth and human development, and then put forward that only to build a “people-oriented” concept of wealth, the surpass of “object-oriented” concept will be achieved. “People-oriented” concept of wealth contains “people-oriented” wealth creation, “people-oriented” wealth distribution and “people-oriented” wealth consumption. “People-oriented” concept of wealth will promote wealth to achieve freedom, harmony and all-round development of human.
