At the beginning of the Qing dynasty, the society changes from the turbulent to a peaceful and stable, and the voice of the wind and cloud and the generous gas in the Literary works dissipates gradually. Based on thoughts from many other poetic critics, Wang’s "charm" theory breaks previous single pursuit of “style” theory that focus on foundation, and “spirit” theory that focus on temperament. Wang’s “charm” theory takes proper balance of foundation and temperament, pursuits the hidden meaning of poems, encourages light and pure artistic concept, praises the implicit and picture-harmonious realm of poetry with zen. Wang judges the poetry of the Tang Dynasty with this theory, meanwhile he values the Tang and Song poetry tradition. He highly praises Wang Wei’s qingyuan poetry style and also values Du Fu’s style. He thinks that they are all signs of verve.Wang Shizhen’s Tang poetry’s compiled is also based on verve. The Shen Yun Collection is the practice and application of his early "Four words about art" poetry aesthetic marking the incipience of the verve of poetics. The Anthology Of Five And Seven Poems means the beginning of his poetic from Tang to song, and reflects the appreciation of Tang Poetry. In his The Anthology Of Tang Xian San Mei written in his later years, he selects 42 poets’ 448 Poems, marking the mature of his “charm” poetics.Wang Shizhen’s Tang poetry evaluation system based on the verve has a profound influence on later generations. Shen Deqian puts the verve as a theory level of his poetics, meanwhile he inherits and develops the Wang Shizhen’s Tang poetry aesthetic standard, implementing the fusion of verve and style. But Zhao Zhixin criticizes Wang Shizhen’Tang poetics from the objective authenticity of the poetry and the relationship between temperament and style. He thinks that Wang shizhen’s Tang poetry evaluation criteria ignores the objective authenticity of the poetry and puts too much emphasis on the external form of poetry. However, thecriticism also reflects the profound influence of the Wang Shizhen’s Tang evaluation system.
