Analysis Of Shen Shixi’s Animal Novels

Shen Shixi is one of the main representatives of Chinese animal novels, which his works on the ideological and artistic quality have made certain achievements. This article has been sorted out on the basis of previous studies, the integrated use of a variety of systematic and comprehensive disciplinary theory and the focus on the ecological significance of their novels.Based on close reading of Shen Shixi’s version of animal novels, to tap its inherent ecological implications, reveal the root causes of people, animals and the natural development imbalances, seek solutions, indicating the ways of people, animals and nature living together in harmony. This article consists of an introduction, four chapters and conclusion components. The introduction outlines a brief summary focused on the overall vital artistic features of creation by Shen Shixi and unique literary value, to clarify the origin and significance of the topics, indicating the main objective of study, research content and research methods. The first chapter focuses on the two issues, firstly, to clarify the concept of "animal novel" as used herein in reference the existing foundation of research results, based on the interpretation of the aesthetic characteristics of "real animal novel". Secondly, the combination of Shen Shixi’s personal growth trajectory and the living environment, because of its novel animal’s creative process and creative style formation, to conduct brief discussion. The second chapter in the animal stories by Shen Shixi’s representative examples of text, create their works in successful animal illustrations, a strong artistic appeal, ingenious narrative techniques, high degree of artistic expression, reasonable bold imagination and aesthetic features, the analysis is executed. The third chapter discusses the animal stories by Shen Shixi through the feelings of children, the author devotes his efforts to show the young reader a vivid, real animal world, showing children of non-utilitarian unique care. The author also tells us to respect animal reverence for life through human and animal story, at the same time highlighting the animal infinite charm and wishes children to regress to innocence. The fourth chapter combined with modern high-speed development pace of life today, elaborates ways to convey its cultural value on the ecological implication of animal stories by Shen Shixi, the creation of analytical history of humans and animals, as indicated in the direction of the lost humanity, that the construction of "ecological personality" is the best way of human self-salvation and how humans, animals and nature live in harmony. This paper argues that Shen Shixi’s readable novel on animals has a strong, vivid image of the animal life, but the text of the deep ecological thought is likely to be ignored, which continues to face the global ecological crisis of the moment, that has a unique significance. Since his works are mainly for the children and adolescent readers, they thus foster ecological thinking in children and adolescents and also have certain educational values.
