English pronunciation teaching is one important part of the English teaching, which is also a neglected field in English learning and teaching. The natural and standard pronunciation will lay the fine foundation for English learning, and it’s also regarded as the symbol for successful linguistic learning or not. In recent years, though many researchers have studied English pronunciation systematically, they only focus on the level of segmental or suprasegmental features. However, the topic about the teaching mode or method of English pronunciation is relatively deficient and the teachers usually lay special emphasis on the instruction of the linguistic knowledge ignoring to foster the students’ enthusiasm to learn English pronunciation. As a result, after many years of English pronunciation learning, the students still cannot have a standard pronunciation.This research adopts experiment to investigate whether the mode of the collaborative pronunciation teaching by Chinese and English teachers has a good effect on students’ English pronunciation learning. The subjects in this study involve two classes of 81 freshmen in Hebei Normal University. This study uses questionnaires and tests to collect data. The questionnaires are designed to testify the students’ views towards English pronunciation learning, and the tests are used to measure the students’ learning achievement. The results obtained from the experiment suggest: 1) students both in the experimental class and the control class are aware of the significance of English pronunciation learning. And after a semester’s study, the students’ views towards English pronunciation learning in the experimental class are better than the control class students’, especially in students’ attitudes and motivations towards English pronunciation. 2) There is no significant difference between experimental class and control class before experiment. But in the post-test, the score of experimental class is much higher than that of control class, and it shows significant difference. That is to say, compared to the traditional teaching mode, the mode of the collaborative pronunciation teaching by Chinese and English teachers plays an important role in students’ English pronunciation learning.Based on the findings in this research, some teaching suggestions have been made: 1) In English pronunciation learning and teaching, teachers need to provide students with a real, authentic language situation. And in this mode of the collaboration of Chinese and English teachers, the interactions between English and Chinese teachers may provide an authentic language situation to students. 2) In this mode of the collaborative pronunciation teaching by Chinese and English teachers, teachers need to cultivate students to observe, imitate the pronunciation habits and skills of foreign teachers. Then they can improve their own English pronunciation. 3) In the future English pronunciation teaching, in order to play a better role of the foreign teachers, we should strengthen the leading role of the foreign teachers in the class, pay much attention to the collaborative relationship between the two teachers and adjust the model of collaboration.
