In recent years, vocal solo concert has become another key component in acquiring master’s degree in major art colleges. The success of a concert is closely related with the design of its repertoire. The singer needs to sing about 12 repertoires on a solo concert, which is more challenging for him or her whether in singing ability, physical performance or psychology quality. Therefore, how to make the concert rich and diversified and meet high professional standards through designing of the repertoire? This thesis is to research the above questions from vocal music teaching theories and the learning and working experience of the author during Master’s degree study.First, though vocal music is an art of practice, it must be based on scientific music theory, so does the design arrangements for concert repertoire. Secondly, the concert should try to cover genres of songs like art song, opera and original songs, and the songs must be consistent with the singer’s actual singing ability, never aim too high or too low. Finally, the arrangement for the repertoire of the concert should be related with the singer’s singing ability and personal characteristics, and shall be reasonable in arranging tracks of different difficulty levels, types, styles and many other aspects.
