A Study Of The Operational Mechanism Of Chinese Individuals’ Self-construal By Using Self-Construal’s Priming Paradigm

The study of chinese individuals’ bi-cultural self-construal is an important branch of the indigenous research,and it’s an important branch of researching contemporary chinese behaviors and thoughts,too.On the influence of the eastern and western cultures,how to know yourself for Chinese people has great significance to individuals living.Previous empirical studies have confirmed that there are independent self-construal and interdependent self-construal in chinese people at the same time,and interdependent self-construal is the main.But there is still few research of bi-cultual connotation and internal operational mechanism,this study uses the method combining of self-reference effect and imagination inflation on the condition of situational self-construal’s priming paradigm,and researches the operational mechanism of chinese college students’self-construal.The experimental results of this study are as follows:1,chinese college students’self-construal is the bi-cultural self-construal,and it means that there are two ego structures of independent self-construal and interdependent self-construal at the same time;2, in the interdependent self-construal of chinese college students,the mother is brought into the core of self-construal;3,the trait-oriented self-construal of chinese college students is a reduced interdependent self-construal,and it means that fewer others are brought into the core of the college students’self-construal.So the independent self-construal is more significant,too.The interdependent self-construal is the static structure of the individuals’self-construal;4,the situational self-construal is the dynamic structure in the the college students’self-construal,and its activation is influenced by the factors such as condition,event body etc. The situational self-construal will be the major self-construal under the activated state,and it’s the expression of the individuals to adapt to the society;5,When the body of the target events involving the central others in the college students’self-construal,the college students still show its trait-oriented self-construal,namely the interdependent self-construal;6,When the college students’self-construal and the self-construal which is coincident with the event content are inconsistent,it can influence the process of the target events’memory,and it reduces the stability of the target events’memory.
