The research subject of this dissertation is the nominalization of verb, which has been a controversial issue for a long time in Modern Chinese. Some kinds of Chinese dictionaries begin to label the parts of speech of words, but it is quite difficult for the nominalization of verb in Modern Chinese. This dissertation is to work on this problem and try to benefit the lexicography, especially the part-of-speech tagging.Chapter 1 introduces the research background, including the achievement and shortage of present research, research subject, methods and the concepts of nominalization.Chapter 2 views the nominalization of verb from the lexical level. Firstly we divide the verb into monosyllabic verb and two-syllable verb according to the number of syllables. Secondly we discuss the nominalization of verb from the angle of markedness.Chapter 3 focuses on the nominalization of verb from the syntactic level, a nd examines the nominalization of verb at the position of subject, object or in the structure of "N de V".In chapter 4, we combine the study of the nominalization of verb and the part-of-speech tagging, and discuss the part-of-speech tagging of the the nomin alization of verb in Modern Chinese Dictionary, including the establishment of senses and the order of verb senses and noun senses.Chapter 5 is the conclusion of the dissertation. The study on the nominalization of verb and lexicography is summarized in this chapter.
