Nowadays,an increasing number of foreign children's literature(CL)has been introduced to Chinese children but the research on translation of CL is rare.The unbalanced situation leads to an uneven quality of CL translations in China.In reality,quality of CL translations will exert great influence on the transmission of foreign culture and also on children's cognitive ability development.Under the guidance of Nida's Functional Equivalence Theory,this project chooses Bird Lake Moon(excerpts)as the source text.It is divided into five chapters.The first chapter introduces the background of CL translations,the purpose and significance of the project.The second chapter is a brief introduction about the source text,including its author,the plot and its stylistic characteristics.The third chapter introduces the Functional Equivalence Theory and two principles applied in this CL translation.The fourth chapter concludes various translation techniques used to solve difficulties from three aspects:lexical level;syntactic level and rhetoric.The last chapter concludes the experience and shortcomings in the translation process so as to provide some experience for CL translation and make progress in future. |
