Research And Analysis On Musical Structure And Performing Style Of Beijing Opera Song "Ode To Pear Blossoms"

As one essential part of Chinese culture, Beijing Opera is unique. Many new types of folk music are beginning to take shape nowadays; they are often known as "Jingge (a new type of folk music similar to Beijing Opera) ", due to its combination of the style of contemporary Chinese folk music with the essence and charm of Beijing Opera-traditional Beijing Opera. Jingge, though with a lot of similarities in rhythm, melody and charm to Beijing Opera, does have differences. Though Jingge is closely related with Beijing Opera, it is new and special in that it originates from the traditional Beijing Opera but possesses not only the elements of contemporary folk music and but also the merits of traditional Beijing Opera; they resemble and differ at the same time in melody and charm.The author has been researching for years on this new type of Chinese folk music Jingge and such musical works as My Hometown Beijing, Eternal Masterpiece, Ode to Winter Blossoms (Busuanzi Poetic Style), Road to Peace, Ode to Pear Blossoms, etc. In this paper, full research and analysis are given upon the musical structure and performing style of Ode to Pear Blossoms, and some good thoughts on understanding and improvement of this new musical type Jingge are also offered.
