The Research On Jane Austen’s Novels In View Of Female Initiation Novel

Jane Austen is a writer of great personal characteristics whose achievements are comparable with Shakespeare’s.Her works focuse on young ladies of the middle class families and describe their love and marrige story. She created many lovely figures and their stories reflect their growth.As the research object,Jan Austin’s six novels are placed under the vision of Bildungsroman to explore their theme, artistic expression and ideological value.In introduction, the background of Jane Austen research is introduced briefly, as well as its current research status, the method that this thesis applies. The first chapter analyzes the theme of Jane Austen’s works.It’s composed of two sections.The first section introduces the concept and the mode of Bildungdroman.The second section summarizes the common points of the themes and explains why Jane’s novels belong to Bildungsroman.In the second chapter the content of Jane Austen’s novels is discussed.In the six novels the heroines face the choice of marriage and change in three aspects,namely emotion,morality and female consciousness. By analyzing their changes in the above aspects,we can explore the connotation of the novels.The third chapter analyzes the artistic characteristics of Jane’s novels maily from character creation and narrative mode.The common points of the plots also confirm that Jane’s novels belong to Bildungsroman. In chapter four Jane’s ideas which embodied in the novels are explored.Jane’s special ideas are the concept of equality between men and women and the concept of marriage based on love. Conclusion is a summary of the whole thesis.Jane described the smart and independent women.These lovely women figures make Jane Austen a unique woman writer. Researching Jane’s novels in view of initiation novel can discover another implication of the novels and explore how women grow up.At the end they understand themselves, others and the society.It also has reference value for today’s women.
