Narrative Studies On Chinese Ancient Lyrics

Under the development trend of cross genre research of post classical narrative, the narrative research of lyric poetry has become a matter of concern.Compared with the systematic study of the western poetry by western scholars,although Chinese scholars started the research later, in recent years, the Chinese mainland’s classical poetry narrative research has acquired valuable results.This paper aims to make some breakthrough in this arena and it mainly discusses the narrative of the ancient Chinese Lyric poetry from four aspects. First of all is the possibility of the narrative research of the ancient Chinese lyric poetry. There are still some debates about whether lyric poetry can be used as in narrative research among the academic area.In the first chapter, the ancient Chinese’ preliminary understanding on the concept of ”matter”, the combination of poetry’s narration and lyric, and the commons of understanding of concept of "matter" understanding by both ancient and modern scholars in China are employed to illustrate the condition and foundation of narrative research of the Chinese ancient lyric.The second chapter mainly discusses the content of the lyric poetry. How do the "matter" exist in the lyric poetry? "Matter" in the lyric poetry is quite different from that in the narrative poem with the former one can be either big or small, or it either can be a relatively continuous and complete event or a fragment of the description, which is often described as a fragment of the mainstream.This chapter mainly discusses from the starting of the meaning of poetry, the story and narrative level, as well as some of the main ways to realize the ancient Lyric narration to prove the conclusion.The third chapter discusses the perspective of the Lyric poetry. Any literary work has a visual angle. The perspective of narrative literature is rich and varied, while the views in poetry is relatively few. This is mainly because that the poetry itself is not a story, but the expression of the author’s own emotions. According to the actual situation of ancient Chinese poetry, this chapter mainly discusses from two aspects : the zero angle of view and the internal angle of view.The fourth chapter mainly discusses the narrative time of lyric poetry. Where there is language, it involves time. Poetry also has "story time" and "narrative time". This chapter discusses from the aspects of time sequence and time interval. The most used time sequence includes pre-narration, flashback and narration while time interval is classified by overview, scene, pause, and omission.In short, the paper mainly describes the possibility of the narrative of ancient Chinese Lyric poetry and some major specific operating techniques.The ancient China lyric poetry has a long history, and outstanding masterpieces count as many as stars in the galaxy. Although narrative theory has developed through more than half a century, there are still many problems that have not been fully explored.The combination of the theory of narration and the ancient Chinese lyric poetry has a certain academic value and a great space for research, and it also provides a new perspective for us to understand the ancient Chinese poetry.
