The Layout Of Zeng Inscriptions

Zeng Inscriptions used to be regarded as part of Chu Character system for a long time. With the more understanding of category theory, as well as more and more Zeng Inscription materials occur, the scholars now treat Zeng Character as an independent system. And that’s why we make this layout of it.There are three main parts of this paper, including the Introduction, the main text and the Appendix.On the introduction part, we mainly discuss the following four questions: the put forward of Zeng Character system, the review of Zeng inscription materials, the review of study on it, and the overview of the paper, which includes the definition of the material and the main jobs we have done.The main part of the paper follows the arrangement of Shuowen Jiezi. The first part is the main content, includes 14 chapters. The second part is the double- character and the compound characters. The third part is the characters not interpreted and those indistinct ones. At the last of this part, there is an index according to strokes, so the readers could find the inscriptions easily.The appendix part is the interpretation of Zeng inscriptions. In this part we give all the interpretations that is mentioned above, and also mark the provenances. The interpretation absorbs both the achievements the scholars have already made and our own comprehensions.
