The Collation And Research On The Radical System Of Oracle-Bone Inscriptions

This dissertation has chosen the Oracle-Bone Inscriptions radical as the research object. That is based on the analysis of the past radical setting of Oracle-Bone Inscriptions, since it is thought that the radical of Oracle-Bone Inscriptions should conform to the principles of philology. According to the analysis of the structure of Oracle-Bone Inscriptions, the dissertation determines the nature of the radicals of Oracle-Bone Inscriptions mainly as followed:1. The independence of the structures; 2. The independence of the functions. According to the nature of the radicals, the dissertation defines the four principles to establish radicals for Oracle-Bone Inscriptions: 1. Give priority to the structure of the Oracle-Bone Inscriptions; 2. Make the same or similar components merge into one; 3. Select the common components as often as possible; 4. The special standards can coexist with the general standards. According to the nature of the radicals and the principles of radical selection, the study selects 248 radicals from 4120 Oracle-Bone Inscriptions, and then classifies the Oracle-Bone Inscriptions based on it. Eventually, we establish a special radical system for Oracle-Bone Inscriptions. The dissertation also takes a closer look at the radical system, including the increase and merger of the radicals, the classification and indexing of the Oracle-Bone Inscriptions, and the jurisdiction of the radicals.
