Chen Feishi (1884-1959), whose real name is Chen Shiyi with Xiaoshu and Juanhe being styled name, born in Jiangning County in Jiangsu Province. He is a famous writer of Ci in period of Republic of China whose masterpieces are "Songci Ju", "Shengzhi" etc. His album of Ci which total of 256 is named as "Juanhe Jinti Yuefu" compiled chronologically in order of his life. He was taught by Zhu Qiangcun who is a Ci Master in late age of Qing Dynasty, so characteristics of Ci in Changzhou style of late age can be reflected in him. In the meantime he is also under influence of fierce New Culture Revolution, which makes him strive to develop new skills in plain and powerful language. The analysis into Chen Feishi and his Ci is not just a demonstration of his Ci theory but also a useful mean to grasp the whole picture of Ci in Republic of China from some aspects.The essay consists of three main parts, namely introduction, body part, epilogue. The introduction explains the meaning of topic and reflects on the current state of analysis into Chen Feishi and his Ci by literature industry, by which it points out the way and feasibility of profound analysis. The body part breaks down into four chapters:The first chapter narrates the life experience of Chen Feishi. The dual roles of both revolutionary and poet are depicted through several important transitions in his life. The second chapter states Chen Feishi friends focused on meeting with revolutionaries of Nanshe, his teacher Zhu Qiangcun in Chongyin Ci club and communication with scholars in Rushe. The third chapter is about spiritual realm presented by his works including heroism of his being worried about country and people and determined to fight for country. On the other hand, it also contains his sentimental home-sickness. The fourth chapter is analyzing the art world of Juanhe Ci combined with his Ci theory and concludes several aspects like "implicit and profound phenomenon", "dense winding structure", "open-minded new language", "precise and classic rhythm", with emphasis on his succession of DuFu Poet and trying to explore the plain poetry of Tao Yuanming in Ci. Epilogue summarizes the central points of essay and reveals the followings: insistence on ideal and conviction all the time, keeping the soberness and virtue of an intellectual; being independent of authority, tolerant and creative, making unique art achievement and confirming the value and position of Juanhe Ci in Ci of Republic of China. Moreover,74 Chen Feishi Cis that were originally not compiled were found and collected from various journals in time of Republic of China, which could complement "Juanhe Jinti Yuefu" and were attached to the essay.
