| Yu Chi is a literary giant of Yuan Dynasty. His life twists and turns, makes friends widely, and has a great influence in middle Yuan Dynasty. But so far, academic circles only study his poems, and rarely discuss his poems putted in Historic environment of Yuan Dynasty. This paper will discuss the conditions of southern literati in early and middle of Yuan Dynasty based on his life, official career and making friends.According to three important periods of Yu Chi’s life, this paper is divided into three chapters. In the first chapter, the family background, early experience, life choices and making friends in early stage were discussed. Yu Chi in the adolescent period made friends based on study tours and Jiangxi senior intellectuals, in order to increase information. Therefore, he built substantial foundation, including the knowledge and social network.In the second chapter, Yu Chi’s career was not happy in capital for20years. During this period, Yu Chi associated with literati who also came from the south of the Yangtze River, such as Zhao Meng-fu, Yuan Jue, Yang Zai, Fan Peng, Liu Guan, Gong Kui. When outlining Yu Chi’s friend circles, a literati circle which was close contact each other was founded in the early and middle of Yuan Dynasty. They played well in officialdom, associated each other with poems, helped and promoted each other.The author did some research on the cause of formation and construction of social network. The primary section is the second chapter.Yu Chi achieved his career peak the first year of Emperor Taiding. Under the trust of Wenzong emperor, he played well in career. However, there were many jealous persons. When Yu Chi come into Kyujanggak, Yu Chi’s friends circles which make friends with Multi nationality literati had obvious Characteristic of Yuan Dynasty. In the middle of Yuan Dynasty, many Semu Literati were deeply influenced by Han culture and had deep attainments. They kept close relationships with Han Literati which created a particular landscape in Yuan culture. |
