A Probe Into The Construction Of Jingjie Theory In Renjian Cihua From The Perspective Of Conceptual Integration Theory

After the birth of Renjian Cihua, the research on it has never stopped. As the core of Renjian Cihua, Jingjie Theory attracts widespread attention. The previous researches mainly focused on two aspects, one of which was to study Renjian Cihua in a systematic way; the other of which was to concentrate on Jingjie Theory. However,those researches were from the perspective of traditional poetry criticism. None did it from the cognitive angle. This thesis will do a tentative research on the construction of Jingjie Theory in Renjian Cihua from the perspective of Conceptual Integration Theory(CIT) by Fauconnier and Turner.For the study purpose, two parts of data are chosen, 14 sentences containing the word Jingjie employed to get the exact meaning of Jingjie, and 52 pieces of Cihua closely related with Jingjie Theory adopted to explore construction process of Jingjie Theory. Mainly qualitative method is employed to unveil the construction process of Jingjie Theory in this thesis. First of all, the exact meaning of Jingjie is obtained via statistical analysis on Jingjie and the meaning of Jingjie in every case. Then, the construction of Jingjie Theory is shown by the following steps. First, the 52 pieces of Cihua are classified into two parts based on Jingjie Theory, essential theoretical part and supplementary part. Then, the conceptual integration networks of relevant pieces of Cihua in each part and the relationships among those networks in each part are explored in detail. Next in discussion is the relationship between these two parts and it can be concluded that the second part is a supplement for the first part. The findings of the thesis are as follows:(1) four types of conceptual integration networks are all adopted to construct Jingjie Theory, and the simple network is used the most frequently for traditional scholars’ thinking habit.(2) During the construction process, main vital relations including role, time-space, intentionality, cause-effect, part-whole and similarity are often in compression, and the compression of role ranks the first for the largest usage of simple network. The cognitive analysis in the thesis provides a new perspective for studying Chinese Cultural Studies Renjian Cihua.
